Our Story

As this is my very first blog post, I want to give a little background on us. John and I met in freshman year in college and have been together 10 years in November. In May 2012, John proposed to me before my work trip to Mexico. Needless to say it was very nerdy where he hide the engagement ring in a board game with a build-a-bear dressed in a tuxedo. We were married in October 2012 and not soon after being married, people started asking when were we going to have a kid. I have never been fond of this question. My preference is that we need to enjoy being married first and get to know each other's routine since we did not live with each other at all. Well not too long after getting married, we discovered in February 2013 we were pregnant with our first.

Annabelle was born in November 2013 with what I thought was a complicated pregnancy. I ended up on bed rest for my third trimester and had weekly ultrasounds and NSTs. It was stressful and made me very anxious each week. During the pregnancy, I also was diagnosed with hypothyroidism which did not help my anxiety. I ended up having our baby girl on my birthday via emergency c-section. She was a scheduled c-section due to being breech but needed to be taken earlier due to server loss in amniotic fluid.

I experienced postpartum depression after having her and it took me a while to get over. I had a lot of ruff days after having her and what bothered me the most was when people asked me when I was having the next one. This is the last thing a woman wants to be asked when the next kid is coming especially after having a complicated first pregnancy and frankly it is no one else's business but John and I's. So to stop the answers, I just answered she would be our only one because it just got so annoying.

After finally getting into a routine with being a family of 3, John and I decided to start thinking about expanding our family and when would be a good time to do so. We decided if we were to expand our family the best time for us was to be sometime in 2016 but did not matter when. John always joked that having a baby on May 4th would be fun due to it being Star Wars day (we are both big fans). We actually found out in May 2015 we were expecting our second bundle of joy! This new bundle of joy would prove what I went through with Annabelle was minor.
